TEXTILE TUESDAY

Designers Guild is a spin on whimsy & girly fabrics, wall coverings & furniture. The color is dramatic and saturated. Mixing patterns and textures creates an interesting palette. While I don't think that this line is for everyone, I do think it's really pretty.
Do you like?

OUTDOOR INSPIRATION

It's nearly September, can you believe it? The weather has been kinda funny here in AZ. Under 100 degrees today and over the weekend. It's a teaser for Fall. I can hardly wait until cooler weather! I am most looking forward to spending more time outside on our patio.

I've had these 2 images in my outdoor inspiration files for some time now. I feel it's a Swedish spin on a modern outdoor space. Maybe it's the alseda stool that makes me love the patio so much. I have one of these and I LOVE it. I really just like the clean lines and simplicity in the design. I find both spaces to be comfortable and effortless. {I'm big on both} I myself like clean and. simple. Less is more kinda philosophy.

JESSICA ALBA

As soon as I saw this picture I thought design + fashion bloggies will love this. The ever popular chevron pattern put into play in the fashion world. I think this dress is gorgeous!Jessica Alba looks stunning in this chevron dress at the LA Premeire of Machete. I haven't been able to locate the designer of the dress or shoes. If you please know, let us know!

MISSION ANTIQUE SIDEBOARD

Mission antique sideboard is in full effect. I have the perfect location for one in my living room. Now I just have to find the piece I want. Craigslist & antique thrift stores here I come! Here are a couple pretties via Lonny.
I plan on painting the piece either a fresh coat of bright white {which will really pop against the slate colored wall referred to here} or possibly a beautiful emerald green!
In other news....I finally bought the stockholm rug I've been wanting for years! LOVE IT. It's in my living room. The living room is coming together great, I will post pictures when I feel its closer to being finished. Although I am always changing everything so its never really finished. More painting this weekend.....any house projects for you?

Happy Weekend!!!

WALKER ZANGER {TILE LOVE}

Walker Zanger has an extensive collection of beautiful tile.
{+great resource for those design files}
I really take a liking to the moroccan and old world inspired tiles.
I know what you are thinking....Yes that is Croc Tile, and it is to die for in that bathroom around the modern tub.

JENNA'S PICKS 8.23.10

This week Jenna's picks are all about color! I've been focusing on neutrals with pops of bold color for my living room. One great way to make neutrals work is by adding texture & various shades of neutral together. A stripe will go along way & really makes a statement.
The carved table adds a nice pop of color & texture in a neutral bathroom.
Mustard + gray + white = a lovely space. You can do no wrong with this amazing bed.
I always love a neutral sofa to allow for pops of color added with pillows, rugs and accessories. This space has a lush casual elegance about it, contributed by the velvet + silk pillows. In my own home I have noticed a velvet pillow really steps it up a notch. Just give it a try, you will be surprised. The fabric of your pillows will really set the tone for your space.

MY OFFICE MAKEOVER

I'm in l o v e with my new organized office space!

BEFORE:  We started with small crappy desks with no workspace. ugly carpet. beige walls {yuck}.  cherry laminate bookcase. a messy workspace in general. It was the room I didn't spend much time in at all. I almost started avoiding it all together.

AFTER: 1) Painted concrete floors w/ Behr Amazon Stone 2) Fresh coat of paint on the walls w/ Behr Gallery White 3) Bookshelf got a fresh coat of white paint 4) New Micke desk from Ikea 5) Art print of NYC from Ikea.

*I heart home print from my shop

*Louis loves mid century modern chairs, as does his mother.

Now I enjoy spending time in our office. It's bright and cheery and organized! Next stop is making over the living room. Finishing painting this weekend. Still much to do....always a work in progress. What can I say its what I truly LOVE to do.

RECENT TRAVELS

I wanted to share some photos from my recent girls trip to Coronado.
Riding bikes along the bay....beautiful weather!
Someone gets up extra early to write beautiful things with sand along the paths
Coronado Beach, CA
If you have been to Coronado you know how amazing the homes on the island can be. This was one of my favorites from last years visit. I did find a mediterranean style home that I loved far more than this gem. It was right near the beach, and for sale for a mere 10.7 mil.
Every Sunday there is live music in the park. Just bring a blanket and some food and you've got yourself a picnic in the park! It's a lot of fun and great people watching.
Have you ever been to Coronado?

MY LOUIS

This little furry chipmunk is the light of my life! It's been awhile since I've showed off his cute furry face.
*This picture shows Louis on the couch, in the background you can see our brick fireplace that we recently painted white to modernise it. {looks great, was hard work no joke!!} Also the paint color on the wall is being changed as we speak!
Louis & his brother Bo love their hikes!

Louis in the snow....my teddy bear.
This picture makes me laugh. He seriously posed this way himself. He was chillin on the couch cozied up to the pillows! lol. {This was a couple weeks ago, pre his 8 week grooming}
Here he is now, looking like a meerkat with his fresh cut.
Check out the fireplace it's white! So much better.

PAINTING Again...

I'm back from vacation! It was a great trip. As always I am super jealous of California's weather and the amazing plants that can grow year round beautifully! Just can't keep them as long in AZ because of the extreme dry HEAT in the summer.

On another note.....doing some painting at home. AGAIN. :) Restoration Hardware has some really wonderful color palettes of paint. We picked up a sample of slate for a feature wall in our living room. We will probably paint this weekend! The rest of the walls are Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore, and in the dining room we have Intellectual from Behr. What can I say I am on a gray KICK. It's such a beautiful neutral.

A new sofa is in order now with the paint change and will be the next major purchase. We will probably go with one from Ikea {stockholm or karlstad sectional}, but I will be checking craigslist and consignment shops too. As we will have a small budget!

FASHION + VACATION

Ok FALL trends are here! I can't wait to get into cooler weather because I can't stop thinking about all the cute boots and booties @ Nordstroms. Over the knee boots are first on my list! Love the DV ones. {come in black & gray} Not to mention the bf cardigans at JCREW. Love!
I know, I know summer is still here.

VACATION TIME !!

I will be leaving tomorrow for 6 days to Coronado, California with my best girl friends.
7 I believe to be exact! We will ride bikes and soak up the beautiful CA rays! I can't wait, road trip begins @ 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. I am making road tunes cd's tonight with my favorite new zumba jams. {Enrique & shakira...LOVE}

Have a lovely weekend!
I'll be back late next week!
